Wakatobi is for long wall dives with no pressure to race to the next sighting. The coral is beautiful and dependable. It sits down at seventeen because sharks and large pelagics are cameos, not because there is anything wrong with the reef.

When is the best time to dive Wakatobi?

Go in April — May · October — November. This calendar does not reward shoulder season: those are the months I would actually spend the money on, not merely months when an operator can run a trip. Very dependable resort diving, with two calmer and clearer windows each year.

What will you actually see?

Coral walls, Turtles, Macro life, Long bottom times are the reasons to make the trip. Wild encounters vary, but the ranking assumes the best months above rather than an average week across the year.
