Mary Island has the schooling fish, Uepi has the blue-water walls, and Munda has reefs and wrecks. The boats are few and the logistics can be clumsy. That is partly why the underwater side still feels like Pacific diving before the big resort build-out.

When is the best time to dive Solomon Islands?

Go in June — August. This calendar does not reward shoulder season: those are the months I would actually spend the money on, not merely months when an operator can run a trip. Good dry-season visibility. Trade winds can make the ride rougher than the dive.

What will you actually see?

Schooling jacks, Barracuda, Healthy walls, WWII wrecks are the reasons to make the trip. Wild encounters vary, but the ranking assumes the best months above rather than an average week across the year.
