Is Tubbataha worth diving now?

Tubbataha has no nearby coast to spoil the water and a short season that keeps traffic down. The result is hard coral, sea fans and lots of fish. Grey reef sharks are normal; mantas, dogtooth tuna, jacks and the occasional whale shark or hammerhead are the upside.

When is the best time to dive Tubbataha?

Go in April. This calendar does not reward shoulder season: those are the months I would actually spend the money on, not merely months when an operator can run a trip. April normally brings a kinder Sulu Sea crossing and the best visibility of the short season.

What will you actually see?

Pristine walls, Grey reef sharks, Dogtooth tuna, Mantas are the reasons to make the trip. Wild encounters vary, but the ranking assumes the best months above rather than an average week across the year.
