Is Raja Ampat worth diving now?

Raja is still the reef benchmark: anthias over soft coral, bait under the jetties, wobbegongs under ledges and mantas at the cleaning stations. A cruise director on Solitude Adventurer calls November his favourite because anchovies can be everywhere. That is a good enough reason to move the season forward a month.

When is the best time to dive Raja Ampat?

Go in November — February. This calendar does not reward shoulder season: those are the months I would actually spend the money on, not merely months when an operator can run a trip. The main liveaboard routes are generally calmer, though current and visibility still change by site.

What will you actually see?

Highest reef diversity, Mantas, Wobbegongs, Fish clouds are the reasons to make the trip. Wild encounters vary, but the ranking assumes the best months above rather than an average week across the year.
